Bus depot Hybrid M
Munich Moosach

The entire building measures approx. 260 m x 140 m and is 28 m high. The bus depot (basement – 1st floor) includes parking halls for 200 buses, a refueling and washing hall, two workshops as well as storage and recreation areas. The cantilevered shell building extends from the 2nd to the 5th floor, each with 4,900 m² of office space. The building also has an elevated garage with 327 parking spaces, which are accessed via a spindle structure.

In addition to the dimensions of the building, the use of materials and the construction work are impressive: 46,000 m³ of concrete, 6,500 tons of steel and 600 prefabricated parts (stairs, facades, light wells) and an additional 250 prefabricated glass parts (cover panels, prestressed concrete trusses, filigree ceilings) were used. Eight of the company’s own construction cranes, additional mobile cranes and around 145 skilled workers were used for the construction work. The bored piles were installed in the area of existing culverts under the supervision of divers – the superstructure of the existing subway passageway with glass elevator was built using a temporary steel structure (32 t). The 4.25 m cantilevered ceiling above the 1st floor was realized using temporary shoring (total quantity of 3,000 m formwork towers) and the installation of 83 steel tension members, some of them multi-storey, for permanent load transfer. The workflow was controlled using LEAN approaches, which meant that special proposals for cost savings and construction time optimization could be developed several times during the construction period.

In addition to the shell construction, we were commissioned with the earthworks, sewer construction, special civil engineering, steel construction, sealing work, coating work, industrial underfloor heating, electrical installation work, lightning protection, plastering and filling work.

The result: an imposing building that stands out for its size and quality.
