HYDROELECTRIC POWER PLANT Stora Enso | Karlsruhe ››
Completed in: 2009
Output: 165 MW
The paper group "Stora-Enso" has decided to construct a new cogeneration plant with a thermal output of 165 MW at its location in Maxau in Karlsruhe on the banks of the Rhine in order to optimise the supply of energy for the production of paper. The new boiler can run on coal, biomass and RDF (refuse-derived fuels). A boiler house, a discharge unit, a coal crusher, a coal silo, a bio-silo, an RDF silo, a processing building, a turbine house and a pipeline bridge were built. On the punctual start of construction the shell of the boiler house had to be completed within 3 months including the bored pile foundation, the foundation slab and the in-situ concrete stairwell with a height of 65 m. Slip form shuttering enabled us to build the walls of the 65 m high stairwell within 12 working days.
