The steel composite construction consists of two separate structures for each direction of traffic. The bridge, constructed for Hessen Mobil Strassen- und Verkehrsmanagement, involved the demolition and reconstruction of the western bridge structure built in 1969 as part of the A 45 motorway from Dortmund to Giessen. The structure, built between 2013 – 2015, straddles the Lahn valley, the Lahn river and a railway line running from north to south with a total of 13 building axes. The superstructure was constructed as a double-girder T-beam, with both longitudinal girders in the form of box girders. The piers have been constructed as free-standing hollow piers.
