GLASS COMPANY RALLY 2018

On 23.05.18 a rally took place for the first time at the company Glass. With great commitment 31 young people between the ages of 13 and 17 were able to try out 12 stations at what you can do at a construction site. Special thanks go to our apprentices, who helped at all stations with full commitment.

A pencil holder was drawn in 3D and later built of wood, concrete and metal under guidance. An invoice was created together with the accountants’ department. Of course it was also concreted, bricked and paved, pipe pieces assembled and tested, whether they are leak-proof. With great skill, the young people were able to operate a mini-excavator under instruction and were allowed to get a good overview of the company premises in a cranes cage. In the car repair shop, they made the troubleshooting on the vehicles and with the metal workers they engraved a bottle opener with their names.

We from the company Glass had great fun and were thrilled how cleverly the girls and boys have solved the tasks at all stations and also about the interesting questions they asked. In the end, everyone was able to take home a prize and their own pencil holders.

We hope to welcome one or another of the young people during an internship or apprenticeship at our company!

DELVE OF SPADE FOR NEW PATIENT HOTEL AT RKU

Ulm, March 27, 2018. The RKU is also building on Easter: Until October, the shell for the new patient hotel is to be located at the University and Rehabilitation Clinic Ulm GmbH. The delve of spade ceremony with the management and property developers took place on Monday. The construction work on the new RKU patient hotel had been started on Monday with this ceremony. By the end of the year, a five-story annex will be built for orthopedic rehabilitation patients in the southern area of Building A, near the new emer-gency room and the Huntington Center, with 50 beds and a 4-star hotel character.

The construction work for the patient hotel was taken over by the company Glass in co-operation with the investor Kanne Group, which also operates the café on the ground floor of the RKU. Construction partner is the company Drees & Sommer. The building will be constructed entirely from the own funds of the clinic.

APPRENTICESHIP AT GLASS - BUILD YOUR FUTURE

On March 10th 2018 the 9th career information day took place in the vocational school Mindelheim. Also we were there and were very pleased about the great interest in our company. We were thrilled that many young people even came to us without their parents' guidance and asked specific questions about our twelve training occupations.

A big crowd puller was the telehandler, which was scrutinized very carefully. In our construction container a presentation about the profession of the draftsman male/female took place, which were followed by the young people with great curiosity.

We´re looking forward to see many of you as trainees or apprentices at Glass again! If you missed the career information day, feel free to call us or write an e-mail.

You can find more information about the training occupations at Glass here

GIRLS DAY APRIL 2017 | GLASS MINDELHEIM

At this year's GIRLS DAY Glass was once again pleased to welcome three young pupils. Mrs Elisabeth Bichler (on the left) and Ms Ramona Längst (on the right) looked forward to the keen interest, presented the training courses we offer and answered all questions.

They presented the training courses of brick mason,  concrete worker and draftsman we offer. Practical insights were shown in our precast concrete works section. There were also shown a various number of building sites within a presentation. Explicitly it was about the current big buildings site GROB H13 in Mindelheim.

We will naturally be participating in GIRLS DAY again next year. All pupils who are interested are very welcome to attend!

GIRLS DAY APRIL 2016 | GLASS MINDELHEIM

At this year's GIRLS DAY Glass was once again pleased to welcome many interested pupils from the Maria-Ward secondary school in Mindelheim. Ms Elisabeth Bichler (top right in the photo), Mr Gordian Schalk (second from top right) and Ms Ramona Längst (top left in the photo) looked forward to the keen interest, presented the training courses we offer and answered all questions. After the obligatory tour through our precast concrete works, our guests paid a visit to the large building site of the GABOR company close by in Allgäuer Strasse in Mindelheim. Here they could watch prefabricated concrete components being assembled in a "live performance". The site supervisor, Mr Gschwilm, briefly described the activities on the building site. A short walk away we could then inspect the recently completed B6 office tower of the GROB company in Mindelheim whose shell had been constructed by Glass. The building's architect, Mr Josef Deggendorfer from GROB, also had the honour of welcoming the young ladies and giving a brief talk about the new, modern building. We would like to thank Mr Deggendorfer and Grob for his help. The view from the 50-meter high office tower onto the city of Mindelheim towards noon was the highlight concluding the event.

We will naturally be participating in GIRLS DAY again next year. All pupils who are interested are very welcome to attend!

TRAINING CERTIFICATE FOR THE PROMOTION OF YOUNG TALENT 2015/2016 | GLASS LEIPZIG

"25 years ago we already started to train reinforced concrete workers, skilled structural engineering workers and office clerks, " says Managing Director Frank Sallowsky. "In the meantime more than 100 young people have successfully completed an apprenticeship at our company. Many of them have later continued their education and been given responsible positions as foremen, site supervisors or site managers handling challenging building projects nationwide.“

Glass is currently training six apprentices. Four further contracts for the coming apprenticeship year have already been signed, including one contract for a cooperative course. "This means that the youngster is trained as a reinforced concrete worker and at the same time studies civil engineering at the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences. These are the best preconditions for being able to work in the field of site management later on," emphasises the Managing Director.

All apprentices who have successfully completed their course have been taken on by the company in recent years. "This is intended to make up for the departure of older workers who have retired."
